1-Why choose Savona soap?

Savona is handmade soap in its true pure form.It gently cleanses away excess oils and bacteria, but it doesn't strip your skin of its natural oils.

We make our soaps from scratch using the finest oils and butters and the most valuable essential oils and precious herbs. We do not add animal products, chemical additives, artificial preservatives, synthetic colour or fragrances.

All our ingredients are individually chosen and combined to create the finest soaps available, each of which does something wonderful to your skin and hair.

Our soaps are naturally gentle, suitable for all skin types, and are available in a variety of scents and unscented.

2-How is handmade soap different from commercial soaps?

- It's all about the ingredients! Our handmade soaps are made from the finest vegetable oils that are chosen for their qualities to moisturize, nourish and add and fluffy lather.

Commercial soaps are made from tallow(animal fat) and other low-cost oils that offer negligible benefits for your skin.

- Glycerine, which is a by-product of the soap making process is often removed during commercial soap making, to be sold at high prices.

We do not remove glycerine from our handcrafted soap. So with Savona, you get a fabulous cleanser and moisturizer all in one.

- In fact, commercial soap bars are not real soap at all, they are actually detergents made from synthetic surfactants, petrochemicals and foaming agents. They strip the natural moisturizing oils from your skin leaving it dry and itchy.

3-What is the difference between essential oils and fragrance oils?

Essential oils are natural, fragrant, therapeutic botanical oils that come directly from plants, flowers, herbs, spices, and fruits. To make essential oils, large quantities of fresh flowers, leaves, and other fragrant plant material (such as citrus peels or cinnamon bark) are pressed or steam distilled to release their natural oils. Essential oils do not only contribute clean beautiful scents to our soaps and other bath and body products, but they also carry the healing properties and skin care benefits of the plants themselves.

Fragrance oils are synthetically produced chemical compounds. While they are available in an endless array of scents, fragrance oils not only add zero skin care benefits, they often irritate sensitive skin and noses, and they can dry out your skin. Most fragrances contain chemical stabilizers called phthalates, which are shown to have harmful effects even with relatively low levels of use.

4-Is Savona handmade soap good for sensitive skin?

Of course! Our soaps are free from all the chemical additives that cause skin irritation, so they make the perfect choice for people with sensitive skin and those suffering from conditions like eczema and psoriasis.

5-Do we really need anti-bacterial soap?

Anti-bacterial soaps lead to the development of more resistant bacterial strains, and unless you are going to make an operation, natural handmade soaps are just enough to wash your hands.

Anti- bacterial soaps may work on bacteria, but they do nothing to protect against viruses which are the main causes of illnesses like flu and colds.

Last and not least, there are many increasing concerns about the use of Triclosan, which is the anti-bacterial ingredient in most commercial hand soaps and cleansers. It has been shown to cause endocrine disruption and has been linked to eczema, asthma and many other allergies.

6-How are the facial bars different from other soap bars?

As the face complexion is more delicate than the rest of our body, facial bars should have a lower cleansing power. They are also more super-fatted to provide extra moisture and their ingredients are carefully chosen to present a soap bar suitable for every skin type.

1-Shampoo bars do not contain sodium laurel sulphate and sodium laurel ethosulphate (SLS and SLES).These are surfactants that soap and shampoo manufacturers use to make their products lather up.These surfactants strip your hair of its natural oils while cleaning causing dry hair and irritated scalp.

2-Shampoo bars are made from the finest oils and butters and are enriched with many botanicals, milk and essential oils that all help achieve clean, soft and manageable hair.

3-Shampoo bars do not require preservation and therefore they are paraben free.

4-Being ultra gentle, shampoo bars are very beneficial for colored hair as they will make the color last longer.

5-Shampoo bars are very convenient during travelling as there is no risk of the shampoo being spilt in your luggage.

This is quite normal and it happened with many of our customers. They felt their hair is somewhat heavy or you can even say it's 'gummy'.

This happens because most of the commercial shampoos available in the market nowadays contain silicones and silica that make the hair look nice but they also leave a residue on the hair shaft.Your hair, therefore,  needs a transition period before it is fully free of the chemicals and residues from previous hair products. You need to give your hair some time to adapt and once it is used to the new shampoo bar, you will never want to return to your old commercial shampoo again.

   1.thoroughly wet your hair

2.wet the shampoo bar and rub the bar across your head in strokes from front to back until you have covered the entire scalp.

3.massage your entire scalp in a circular motion to work the lather through your hair. Do not rub the bar or work the lather on the length of your hair.

   4. rinse well allowing the shampoo to drip down the length of your hair. This rinsing is enough to clean the length of your hair.

5.rinse for at least one minute, rubbing your fingers through your hair to be sure that all of the shampoo is out.

6.rinse with the apple cider vinegar rinse(1part vinegar:9parts water)

7.squeeze gently on the length to remove excess water and cover dry a towel. Do not rub the towel over your wet hair because it causes nasty tangles.

8.use a wide toothed comb and gently comb starting from the bottom hair moving upwards.

A bar of Savona handmade soap will last anywhere from several weeks to several months, depending on use. Because there is lots of natural glycerin in handmade soap, and because there are no synthetic chemicals to act as hardening agents, handmade soap is usually a little softer than commercial soap bars, but with proper care, it will last even longer than regular soaps.

11-How should we keep the soap between uses?

To ensure a long life for your soap, always rest it on a draining soap dish or make it stand on its side, out of the spray range of the shower head.

As we age, the process of cell regeneration slows down. This means that the body is slower to shed skin cells and generate new ones. When old skin cells start to pile up on the surface of the skin, it can leave skin looking dull, rough, and dry. Furthermore, the build-up of dead skin cells can result in excess oil and clogged pores, leading to blemishes and acne.
Proper exfoliation removes the barrier of dead skin cells clogging the skin and uncovers fresh new cells below. This opens the way for moisturizing products to penetrate more deeply into the skin, which makes them more effective. In short, a regular exfoliating routine will leave your skin looking fresh and healthy.
